We asked fitness enthusiast Taylor Jones of mobile, AL why she loves Crew Fitness and she broke it down for us.

So many things to love about Crew!

  1. It helped me stay in shape through two pregnancies. I was able to row pretty much the entire time because it’s easy on my joints. 🤰🏻

  2. It got me back in shape after said pregnancies, and I’m actually stronger now! 💪🏻

  3. It’s a FULL body workout with a great mix of cardio and weights.

  4. Instructors are always fabulous. 🤗

  5. You can go at your own easy pace or push yourself really hard. I get a little competitive sometimes. 😬

  6. Monthly financial commitment is not required. I like buying a bulk pack of classes and using them when it fits my schedule because I need the flexibility.

  7. Class times work really well for me!

  8. After trying all kinds of classes and lots of different training I’ve realized that Crew’s program gets me in the best shape. I used to run a lot but it’s bad on my joints, so I started incorporating Crew.

  9. Doing Crew and actually running LESS helped me get my running pace down from an 8-minute mile to a 7:10. 🤯

  10. It’s also just really fun!

Crew Fitness Houston opened on March 27, 2019. It was a long time coming, says co-owner Marcia Strange. She and her husband, Dan actually signed the lease on their space over a year before the doors opened. 

Hurricane Harvey delayed all construction in Houston, and they were forced to be patient. Their patience paid off: the studio is a gorgeous stand-alone bungalow, located in the Heights at 715 West 22nd Street.

Marcia rowed the very first Crew Fitness class that ever took place. It was 5:30 a.m. on December 7, 2015. Co-founder Carrie Cox taught the class. “I remember praying someone would show up,” Carrie said. “Marcia showed up! Marcia and one other man, and they loved the class,” she added. 

Over the next 2 years, Marcia and her husband Dan enjoyed working out at Crew. Dan became one the first instructors, and members raved about Dan’s classes. 

As his next Coast Guard assignment approached, Dan and Marcia realized that moving away from Mobile also meant moving away from Crew. “And we just couldn’t have that!” Marcia said. 

So they approached Crew Fitness founders Carrie and Amy and asked if they’d consider partnering on a second location. Amazingly, Carrie and Amy were already dreaming about opening a Crew in a major metropolitan area. Both parties had Houston in mind. 

“And the rest is history!” Carrie shared. The Stranges partnered with Carrie and Amy for ownership of the Houston location, and Marcia runs the daily operations. “Marcia is the absolute best business partner Carrie and I could have ever dreamed of,” Amy said. “Yes, she truly loves Crew the way we do and it shows in everything she does,” Carrie added.

Crew HOU has 19 rowing machines, and clients book classes through the Crew Fitness app. They offer 5-6 classes on weekdays and 3 Saturday morning classes. 

Each class is a 45-minute motivating experience of rowing, body-weight movements, and dumbbell work, all set to great music and lights. 

The Houston studio offers a first class free, as well as an introductory offer of 5 classes for $75.

The Crew Fitness Core Challenge is our fall focus on health and happiness. We'll be giving away hundreds of dollars in cash and other exciting prizes, and we are offering SPECIAL PRICING of 5 weeks for $100 to those rowers not currently on membership autopay. Complete the challenge and we’ll apply your $100 cost of entry to your first month’s membership!

The challenge is to row 18 classes over 5 weeks. Our goal over the challenge is to strengthen your CORE so you'll see added core work in each class and optional cool down core work after class. And for those who are ready to take it to the next level, we challenge you to cut the bread and sugar (the BS) out of your diet during the challenge.

Completing the challenge makes you eligible for prizes!

Beach Week is a Crew Fitness celebration of summer fitness. Keeping a schedule and staying focused in summer is HARD, so we challenge you to commit to taking FIVE CLASSES in ONE WEEK from July 22-27. Beach Week will get you right back on track, feeling confident and ready to stay fit for the rest of the summer. Everyone that completes the challenge will get a sweet pair of Crew Fitness summer shades, and we’ll celebrate together after Saturday’s class!

We’re offering special unlimited pricing for the week to anyone not currently on autopay. See your location for details. Beach Week is a great opportunity to set a short-term goal and dial in your fitness and nutrition for one week. It’s also a great way to jump right in and experience Crew for the first time, at an awesomely low price, and with all the excitement of a challenge and a party!

Crew Fitness Mobile is excited to host the Cooper Cup on Saturday, April 27. The Cooper Cup is a fundraiser regatta event celebrating the future child of Bryan and Megan Cooper, longtime members at Crew MOB seeking to adopt. All proceeds will benefit that process for the Coopers.

There are 3 events at the Cooper Cup: the 500m Sprint, the 2K Regatta, and the 100m Bracket Challenge. Cost of entry is $20 for one event or $30 to enter all 3. Prize packs will be awarded to the top 3 male and female rowers in each event. Additionally, we will award ALL 2K PRs with $5 Crew Cash! In the spirit of Crew Fitness, your biggest competitor is always YOURSELF, and we celebrate all PRs!

The day will begin at 8:00am with heats of the 500m sprint, and it will end with the 2K Regatta. The 100m Bracket Challenge will be a March Madness style head-to-head tournament of 100m sprints that will run all morning culminating with one champion in the men’s division and one in the women’s.

We’ll have food and drink for purchase, lots of fun, lots of laughing, and lots of rowing.

Personal Nutrition Coaching

Personal Nutrition Coaching

Crew Fitness is excited to offer nutrition coaching and accountability through our licensed nutrition and wellness consultants, Sam LeMond and Stacy Barber. The Crew Fitness nutrition program consists on a one-time nutrition education consultation with either Sam or Stacy where they will calculate your personal macro-nutrient needs, based on many variables. You’ll learn how to track your macros, and your coach will write you personalized meal plan. Then based on your needs, preferences and lifestyle, you’ll work with your coach to outline some sample meals, and she’ll talk to you about how to prepare them for each day.

After this initial consultation, you have the option of continued accountability with your coach including weekly weigh-ins, updated macros, and ongoing support. Your coach will communicate with you regularly, checking in on your goals and providing practical advice on how to stay on track. Worried about how to stay on track through a vacation? She’ll talk you through it. Worried about that work luncheon where none of the options seem to fit your macros, she’ll tell you what to do. Constantly have to feed all of the picky eaters in your house and worried because they may not like your new healthy food? Your coach will show you how to make healthy food that pleases everyone! Furthermore, once you reach your goal, your coach will teach you how to eat to maintain all of your progress.
