MOBILE, AL — The Health Dare is a 5-week wellness challenge sponsored by Crew Fitness. Over the course of the 5 weeks, our goal is to help you build healthy habits that you can carry with you BEYOND the length of the Dare.
We have identified 5 factors of wellness: fitness, nutrition, sleep, mindset and social connections. Each morning during the Dare, you’ll get a text message with the daily DOUBLE DARE. This is where we’ll build the healthy habits that you can carry with you beyond the challenge.
For example, in week 1, your nutrition challenge will be to eat 2 servings of vegetables each day. Seems easy, right!? That’s the point. We’re starting with the BASICS. But by the end, we’ll have you eating 4-6 servings of fruits and veggies/day, 64+ ounces of water, limiting alcohol consumption, and increasing your protein intake. But we’ll start EASY. One thing, one day at a time.
Port City Preps has partnered with Crew Fitness to help you reach your nutrition goals. They’re offering discounted meals and delivery to each Crew location during the Dare!
Each day of the week, we’ll focus on a different wellness factor, but each Double Dare will be something easy-ish that you can incorporate into your daily (or weekly) routine to improve your overall quality of life. And that’s really what it’s all about!

The Health Dare is a 5-week wellness challenge, sponsored by Crew Fitness, from March 6 - April 8. The goal is to complete 21 classes over 5 weeks. This year, the Health Dare will end with a VICTORY BASH on April 8… The catch is: The Victory Bash is only open to those that complete the challenge!

The Crewathlon is a celebration of fitness and fun! This year’s event will take place at Spring Hill Swim Club on September 10. Open to all fitness levels and abilities, there are 3 ways to participate: The full Crewathlon, the team relay event, and the sprint mini.
Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each division: Male, Female, Team, as well as to the fastest men and women on the sprint mini course. All participants will receive a swag bag.
The Full Crewathlon is as follows:
300m swim (12 laps)

3000m ride
2000m run (1.25mi)
ALL ROWING+RIDING will be completed on Crew Fitness Concept2 stationary row erg and bike erg. Individual athletes will complete the full course, with heats beginning at 8:00 and 9:00am.
Team competition has 3 divisions: All male, all female, and co-ed. Teams may be comprised of 2-4 athletes. In order to compete in the co-ed division, 50% of the team must be comprised of females. Registration fee is $130 per team. Team heats will run at 10:00 and 11:00.
The mini sprint course will be completed by one athlete as follows:

Athletes MAY compete in more than one event. You will need to register for each event you plan to compete in. Registration caps at 48 athletes for each division and 24 teams per event and will close at 12:00pm on September 9. Click here to register for any division!

With the opening of their second Mobile location this spring, members have the option of taking classes at the Airport Boulevard location in Regency Square and in the new Midtown location on Old Shell Road, just east of the Dew Drop Inn. Memberships and classes are honored in both locations.
The Crew Fitness program uses the bike and the rowing machine to deliver a low-impact workout that anyone can jump into.

Using the rowing machine and bike for cardio, combined with functional strength and bodyweight movements, Crew Fitness delivers a program that WORKS, and because the machines and the movements are LOW IMPACT, it won’t wear down your body. Crew delivers a high level of fitness with a low risk of injury or wear and tear on the body. Each class is filled with people of all ages, abilities and sizes. “The cool thing about Crew is that ANYONE can row and ride. The classes are set up so that each person pushes themselves at a level that’s right for them,” explains founder and owner, Carrie Cox.
Carrie Cox opened the first Crew Fitness in 2015 in Mobile, AL. She has since opened locations in Houston, TX (2018) and Midtown Mobile (2022).
There’s no running or jumping at Crew, so your joints will thank you later. Each person chooses their own weights, and the instructors give the Crew options to make each exercise right for each individual. For example, one person may use 2 heavy dumbbells to make his squats tough and build strength and the person next to him leaves their weights on the floor, and performs half the reps, focused more on functional movement, mobility and cardio. These modifications are celebrated and encouraged at Crew.
“It’s truly a program for people at all stages of their fitness journey: from just starting out to seasoned competitive athletes, we serve all ends of the spectrum,” says Cox.
